Is It Hard Making Money Online?
Being fortunate enough to achieve success in my online businesses many people ask me just how hard is it to make money online and the truth is, it’s simple but not easy.
What I mean by that is, once you have a blueprint that you can follow it becomes a very simple process. The not easy part is learning that blueprint and for many just starting out it is a huge learning curve where most people will give up after a few months.
Your will and mindset are going to be your 2 biggest assets. Everyone starts at the beginning, some will quit and some will continue on in their journey to make money online. When I first started I had my setbacks, doubts and failures, everyone will. It’s a test and this is the point where you decide how bad you want to succeed at building your business.
Pick a Model and Stick With It Until You Start Making Money
When you make the decision to start making money online you’re going to have to decide which model you want to work with. This is where many people get overwhelmed with so many choices.
You could choose MLM which is multi-level marketing such as Amway, MaryKay, Beachbody, Organo Gold etc. While MLM has been given a bad reputation because many have been total scams there are quite a few like the ones above that are actually great businesses that provide solid products and services and have been around for quite awhile.
The one thing to consider about MLM though is that it will take a considerable amount of time and effort to grow your income. I have been a part of 2 such companies, 1 of them for 9 years and the other for 4 years and still with them to this day, so yes you can earn money by using this model if you put in the effort.
With that being said, the downside of the MLM model is that you’re not building your brand. You will start out constantly promoting the brand of the company and you better make sure your company is reputable so do your research as your name is going to be associated with it.
This is what I recommend to anyone just starting out as the quickest and easiest way to start earning an income online. Your goal with affiliate marketing is to simply give people what they want. Put the product you are promoting in front of people who are looking to solve a problem or achieve a goal.
For example, if you know someone that has been complaining about acne share with them a great skin cream from Amazon or a book from Clickbank that shows them the best ways to clear up their acne. Just make sure to have your affiliate links in place before hand.
I have found that if you just listen, people will tell you what they are struggling with or trying to achieve. Perhaps one of your friends is trying to get a business loan, find a great affiliate program dealing with business funding and grab your affiliate link.
You can find even more people for any niche by simply typing in google the keyword you are looking to promote and add the word forum to it. For this example I will use fly fishing forum and BAM, all kinds of forums to dig around in that has people trying to find solutions or better products.
These forums are great ways to get ideas and keywords that you can base a website around because if one person is looking for a solution you can bet there are others with the same issue.
Ecommerce has been the big rage over the last couple of years and with good reason. More and more people are going online to buy but to build your own ecommerce site and make it successful will require that you do some serious research.
You will have to find a specific niche that offers unique products. Keep in mind that you can just sell everything on your site, that’s what Amazon is for. lol Your focus should be on getting a tiny part of the marketplace to avoid as much competition as possible.
It all starts with whatever pops into your head or some cool gadget that you recently purchased. I have a ecommerce site myself that deals with cool and unique gadget and it does pretty well for me month after month but setting it up was a lot of work and getting it ranked where people could actually find it is really difficult if you’re just starting out.
Do your keyword research, let’s say you are interested in watches. Great but that is a huge niche in itself. Let’s drill down to something like bamboo watches and see how many searches a month for that term and how tough the competition is.
The key is to drill down as specific as you can to avoid a lot of competition and still get a decent amount of searches each month. I try to look for at least 1,000 searches/month with all your different keyword combinations. Once you do that then you’re ready to start finding where you can get those products from.
You can use Amazon, Overstock and Wayfair as sources for your products and many people use Alibaba and Aliexpress. With Aliexpress the drawback is it will take 10-30 days for delivery to your customer but most customers don’t mind as long as you make sure they know the delivery time before they order.
The good thing though with Aliexpress is that if you find a product that is a good seller for you, you then can order a larger amount and have them shipped personally to you so you will have them ready to ship as soon as an order comes in.
Alibaba is the same theory they just deal with selling in bulk which will give you cheaper prices but it a larger upfront expense so it will come down to your budget and how you want to build your business and the sources you choose.
Alibaba is where you find many Amazon FBA sellers getting their products from and selling on Amazon can be wildly profitable but again you must do your product research and check your competition.
Do you posses a certain skillset like Liam Neeson? lol Well maybe not that skillset but people are always looking for others to perform online tasks. Are you great at photoshop, writing articles, editing, voice overs? Fiverr is a great place where you can offer gigs as low as $5 but also get paid much more for upgrades and add-ons.
There are many providers earning serious bank on Fiverr and it’s free to get started so it’s definitely something to check out and grow your income.
Starting Your Own Blog
This is more of a long term plan for making money online but don’t let that stop you from getting started while you build your other business. Listen, everyone has a certain experience or knowledge of certain subjects and with that knowledge or experience you can monetize it by simply sharing valuable content.
Are you good with saving money? Start a blog and share tips that have helped you save money. Do you know about building birdcages? Great, share your info on your blog, facebook page or youtube channel.
This will take time to grow but when you provide valuable content people in those niches will find you if you stay consistent in posting new articles and videos that will help them solve a problem or achieve a goal.
Once you start getting some traffic flowing to your blog you can then monetize with offers to related products or google adsense ads. Let’s say you have a blog about building your credit score. You could have affiliate offers for the different types of credit cards.
Yes, You Can Make Money Online
These are just a few of the ways to make money online and as you can see it’s not hard to make money online but it takes work just like anything else. The difference is once you make your decision on which model to choose, stick with it until it starts making you money and then you can wither rinse in repeat with the same model in another niche or learn a new model and build that as well.
I hope this has given you some motivation and ideas to get started. I truly believe if I can accomplish this anyone can an it will allow you to live life on your own terms.
