Do I Need An Autoresponder
Hey guys, this post is going to be about autoresponders, what is an autoresponder and why do we need an autoresponder. The simple answer to that question is 97% percent of people do not make the decision to buy or spend money on the first visit.
Studies show that people need to be presented something an average of seven times before making a decision to spend money. Okay so now that we know this we need some kind of tool or software.
We need something to be able to present your opportunity to these people time and time again maximizing your chances to make a sale. We use autoresponders to do that.
What we want to do is build a list of email addresses so we use capture pages to capture their contact details as in their email address and when they join via a capture page or an opt-in form they are added to your list.
You have that email address, you are following up with an email series and you have the option to send what are called broadcasts which is basically just a one-off message you can send whenever you want.
So you’re not only building a list but you’re building a relationship with that list as well. It’s not just about the size of the list but it’s how well you engage and interact with your list and show you are there to be trusted and there to give value.
The more you invest in someone else by giving them value throughout the messages the more likely it is they will invest in.
Should I Use a Free Autoresponder
A couple of words of advice, you don’t want to go for free autoresponders and what I mean by that is the one off third party free autoresponders.
They’re not going to do the job. It’s not going to be as safe as getting your own paid autoresponder, you don’t want to cut corners when it comes to dealing with probably the most important part of building your online business and building your future.
What you’ll eventually find with free autoresponders is that the deliverability rate is nowhere close to the paid ones. What I mean by that is when you send out emails to your subscribers and they end up bouncing or sent to spam.
Doesn’t do you much good to build a list if you can’t actually email them. There’s plenty of great autoresponder companies out there but the one I’ve used for over 12 years is Trafficwave.
What you’ll find with many companies and systems you join they’ll have the autoresponders built in, which works quite well and I’ve used them in the past myself.
Your Own Autoresponder Will Help You Build Your Brand
However if you want to build your own brand, personalize your own messages, add your own images to give that personal touch or even a little signature on the bottom, most of them will not allow you to personalize the messages.
The power of having your own autoresponder is you’re going to be able to create your own opt-in forms. You can design and create your own capture page forms where you can ask for the name and email address and whatever else you want to ask for.
You can design it, you can put your own pictures on there, your own buttons and everything like that and you can use those in capture pages.
You can get your autoresponder to host your own capture page or you can just get the opt-in form and put it on your website or your blog or wherever it is you want.
Building Your List
Once you’ve decided now it’s time to build a list of subscribers. This is the main purpose of getting an autoresponder is building a list of subscribers, building a relationship with those subscribers and following up with a series of emails.
It’s also a great time saver. You’re going to be able to write a set of emails or copy and paste a set of emails from somewhere and those will just automatically go out at regular intervals.
By keeping in touch with your list and providing value you’re building a relationship and that maximizes your chance of sales in the long run.
You’re going to be able to track your email open rates which is quite important as you can see which of your emails are actually working the best, which ones are being opened the most based on the subject title and if they are clicking the links in your email.
By knowing this information you can always tweak the subject line and content and slowly but surely get better and better results. By tracking the clicks you’ll also know what times of the day work best and you can track traffic sources as well.
You could have separate opt-in forms so if you’re getting more traffic on Facebook for example, then you know to focus more of your energy on that because it’s working better.
You can use your autoresponder to contact your prospects anytime. Let’s say you’ve done a YouTube video and you want as many views as possible. Send out a broadcast email to your list to let them know you’ve got a new video on YouTube.
Stick your YouTube video link in your email and explain why they should watch it and what it is you’re offering people. You can get really creative and that’s what I do anytime I’ve got a new piece of content.
Do I Need An Autoresponder – Conclusion
I hope this post has showed you the importance of an autoresponder. Your autoresponder will be the best investment you’ll ever make for building your business. You hear so many people say the money is in the list, it’s so true if you make it about building a relationship.
Once you have your capture page, autoresponder and emails setup it’s all streamlined after that. Even if you are emailing them once a week that does the job as long as you’re not just trying to sell them, sell them, sell them all the time.
You want to build a relationship with them and provide value. That’s the main purpose of an autoresponder, offer value, give something back to them, invest in someone else and they’ll invest in you.
