Top 3 Website Builders
Today we’re going to talk about my top 3 website builders when you’re wanting to establish yourself online. This post is going to be a little different from other folks as I’m going to focus on actually building your new site on WordPress.
WordPress is the most popular CMS in the world and is used by nearly 75 million websites. Once you get your domain name and your hosting you can instantly upload WordPress in the hosting backoffice.
I recommend BlueHost for your hosting for the simple fact that you can get your domain name free for the first year and their hosting services are one of the best.
WordPress gives you so many options and you can really tweak your search engine optimization with a plugin called RankMath.
When I talk about the top 3 website builders I am speaking of the page builders and themes for your WordPress site.
Now there are a lot of free themes that come along with WordPress that you can choose from and some are quite appealing but the downside with free themes are that most of them are not supported.
What I mean by that is if you plan on having your site for a long period of time, which you should, the last thing you want is for something to go wrong with your theme and you have no way of fixing it.
The top 3 website builders that I’m going to talk about are constantly supported so if anything ever goes wrong there is someone to reach out to and get the answers.
Just starting out I know you maybe thinking you just need a simple website but eventually if you’re wanting to grow your business or sell products you will need the ability to have eye catching lead capture pages to build your list.
Here are my top 3 website builders that will fulfill all your needs. All provide varying levels of capabilities as well as unique features.
Elegant Themes comes in number 1 of my top 3 website builders. If you’re looking for a new WordPress theme, you can’t go wrong with Elegant Themes.
Elegant Themes has been in operation for 11 years, and has served more than 600,000 customers to date.
With Elegant Themes you don’t just get one theme to choose from you, have the option to choose from 87 of their themes as well as a number of plugins. I can promise out of those 87 you will find one that is the perfect fit for your business.
It’s recently refocused its efforts on just its two latest themes, Divi and Extra, as well as its Bloom email optin form and Monarch social media plugins.
The WordPress page builder that helped to make the Divi theme so popular is now also available as a standalone plugin in the form of Divi Builder.
The Divi theme is what I personally use and what I use for most of my clients. There are just so many options so you can really get creative as it gives you the ability to do just about anything.
From blogs and business sites to ecommerce stores and everything in between, Divi is undoubtedly a versatile website-building tool. You can create custom websites without ever having to look at a single line of code.
The reason it’s on this list is because Divi has useful sets of high-quality templates and the powerful drag-and-drop page builder tool.
You can import one of over 100 Divi website packs to give you a quick way to start your project. You can also pick and choose from the library of more than 800 individual page templates.
Those who are new to WordPress can use the Divi layouts combined with the builder’s point-and-click interface to create custom page designs.
How much does Elegant Themes Cost?
For just $89 a year, you get access to all of its themes including the flagship ‘Divi‘ theme.
If you really want to save money you can get it for an impressive one-time fee of $249 for Lifetime Access. Plus they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all purchases.
Elegant Themes Support
If you ever have questions there’s a live chat support channel that’s open 24/7. Chat messages are usually responded to quickly.
However, the chat window sometimes displays a message stating that the support team typically replies in a few hours.
You can also send support emails via the live chat channel, and then check back for a response at your convenience. The have forums but are now no longer monitored by the Elegant Themes staff,
They’re still up and running, and can be a great place to ask questions of the community and interact with other Elegant Themes users.
Thrive Themes comes in at number 2 of my top 3 website builders and was founded in 2013 by two entrepreneurs, Paul MacCarthy, and Shane Melaugh.
It has quickly grown to become one of the most popular vendors in the digital marketing space. The name Thrive Themes implies that the company is all about themes.
However, although that was their focus when they started, today Thrive Themes is about so much more than that. And in fact, the reason that I am recommending Thrive has absolutely nothing to do with their themes.
The products that you will find in Thrive’s suite of tools are designed for small business owners and bloggers (like myself, and likely you) who are focused on lead generation and conversions.
They are easy to use and will help you increase user engagement and actions. By using these tools, you’ll be able to optimize your website for better performance overall.
They offer WordPress templates and plugins, as well as a no-code drag-and-drop editor that allows you to build unique websites even with no technical skills.
This conversion-focused set of tools is designed with one goal, and that is to help you turn website visitors into subscribing customers.
With it, you will be able to get more traffic, more leads, more subscribers, and more customers for your business. You can choose from almost 300 templates to help you start creating pages quickly.
They’ve created Thrive University, which is full of courses where you can learn everything you need to know about how to use each of the tools.
The downside if you’re starting out brand new is the sheer number of tools offered by Thrive that can prove overwhelming for beginners.
Just like any of the top 3 website builders, Thrive Themes suite of products all have their own learning curve. I do think the platforms are intuitive, but it takes time and patience to master them.
The Thrive Theme Builder is a flexible, easy to use framework for building a WordPress site. Not to be confused with Thrive Architect, which is a plugin and content editor, this theme builder was released in early 2020 and does so much more.
With it, you will be able to visually create and modify any aspect of your pages, including headers, footers, blog post templates, sidebars, page layouts, search pages, category pages, 404s, etc.
This means that you no longer have to be stuck with whatever page elements came with the theme. With this tool, you will be able to drag-and-drop different elements to make your page look exactly how you want it to.
It’s a dedicated theme, and not a page builder plugin or a workaround. The theme builder integrates seamlessly with Thrive Architect and other Thrive products.
Thrive Architect is a next-generation WordPress page builder that is ideal for marketers and business owners whose main focus is on marketing.
This plugin is really the foundation of the entire suite of tools from Thrive Themes. It’s the primary editor that you will be using to build or edit your landing pages, lead generation forms, etc.
This tool provides a ton of flexibility and power compared to the default editor in WordPress. It will help you transform your pages and blog posts into unique, responsive, eye-catching, and high converting pages that your audience will love.
Thrive Architect provides you with total visual control over how your website looks and feels without you having to learn any code.
Everything on the platform is drag-and-drop. To change any particular aspect of the page, all you have to do is click on it and the tool has built in options to change things.
How much does Thrive Themes Cost?
The way Thrive Themes works is that most of their plugins are available as standalone purchases OR you can purchase a Thrive membership and you have access to everything.
Like Elegant Themes, Thrive Themes offers a yearly membership for just $228/year compared to Elegant’s $89/year membership.
However, unlike Elegant, you don’t get quiz builder, course builder, A/B testing tools, etc. with your membership.
The reason I recommend a Thrive membership is because for one investment, you get access to all their quality tools that such as:
- The ability to design any landing page you want (and you will need this to build your business)
- The ability to build a real, high conversion optin strategy across your entire site.
- The ability to do split testing to perfect your results over time.
- The ability to build online courses
- The ability to use quizzes for your online marketing.
- The ability to do advanced evergreen marketing funnels, all within WordPress.
Hey, I get it. If you’re first starting out and low on funds investing $228 upfront is a tough nut to crack but to purchase all their tools separately without the membership would cost you over $600 bucks.
Thrive Themes Support
You can get support from Thrive by submitting a support ticket for your queries from right inside your thrive dashboard.
There’s no chat option, and while the support team is good at what they do, they typically respond within 24 to 48 hours which is slow and can be frustrating if you’re in the middle of a project.
Having said that, they are highly knowledgeable and friendly and will work with you to resolve any issue you might experience.
LeadPages comes in at number 3 of my top 3 website builders and has more than 43,000 customers. That means there’s plenty of data to draw from. Also, the company has been around for years. It was founded in 2012.
Leadpages is a suite of tools that facilitates business growth by helping your company capture more leads and convert those leads into paying customers.
They’re mostly known for their landing page builder and highly effective (yet slightly annoying) pop-ups. How does the tool make your life easier when it comes to finding qualified leads?
The answer begins with one word: templates. Leadpages gives you access to more than 150 professionally designed templates.
Pick one of those and you won’t have to create a landing page from scratch. Those templates, by the way, span a variety of industries.
You should just know that the Leadpage Editor is a simple, drag-and-drop tool that lets you create effective landing pages that convert with no design or development experience.
If you’re looking to make high-converting landing pages with email-capture pop-ups, opt-in forms, and other cool features, you’ll have a lot of fun with Leadpages.
Leadpages allows you to publish to your own website or theirs (but they require you to use a subdomain, e.g. Store.Yourdomain.com). That will put people off big time. Don’t do it.
How much does LeadPages Cost?
Pricing ranges from $25 to $199, depending on the level of service you’re looking for. That’s at the annual billing rate.
If you want to go month-to-month, it will cost you at least $37 per month. The lowest level of service doesn’t offer split-testing.
Leadapages’ pricing is one of the most common gripes with the tool, especially since most of the high-value features aren’t available with the Standard plan.
The price starts at $25/month (billed annually).
$300 a year doesn’t sound too bad for a tool that basically makes landing page creation a matter of a few clicks and a bit of dragging here and there.
But, once you see the details, you realize the bad news. The Standard plan doesn’t include:
- Unlimited A/B testing
- Sub accounts
- Online sales and payments
If you want that, you have to upgrade to either:
- Pro – $48/mo
- Advanced – $199/mo
THE STANDARD PLAN HAS EVERYTHING A BUSINESS NEEDS TO MAKE AWESOME, HIGH-CONVERTING LANDING PAGES!
If you need a suped-up suite of marketing tools to scale your agency to space, then yeah Leadpages gets really expensive.
But the Standard plan includes:
- Unlimited landing pages
- Unlimited pop-ups
- Unlimited alert bars
- 200+ templates
- Facebook and IG ads builder
- Group coaching
- What else do you really need?
If you’re a small business with the Standard plan, you can make a landing page, add a pop-up, add an alert banner, and create social media ads.
That’s plenty if you ask me. Sure, you won’t get the most advanced features, but to be brutally honest, if you can’t afford $2,400 a year, then you probably aren’t at the level where any of that is important.
Unlike most companies, Leadpages has real human beings behind those avatars and not some chatbot that’s only programmed to answer the top 10 FAQs.
That, and they’ve got a huge library of resources or “knowledge base” as they call it to help solve your problems.
Top 3 Website Builders – Conclusion
I know there are plenty of funnel and page builders out there but the above are my top 3 website builders.
I try to stay away from ClickFunnels and other similar types for the simple reason that you don’t own it. If you stop paying you’ve lost all the work you’ve put in.
Plus it’s pretty expensive and for most people starting out it can be a unneeded drain on your finances.
I would recommend Elegant Themes out of my top 3 website builders because you can pretty much do anything from building a niche site to corporate site for clients to building capture and funnel pages for your products.
It’s the lowest cost of the others out there and it’s on your hosting so you can focus on seo if you want for organic traffic.
